Todays hackle lines date back to the 1950's when the pioneers of hackle, Harry Darbee and Heny Hoffman began the breeding selection process to produce just the right feather to tie their favorite patterns.
Then came Ted Hebert and Andy Miner who both made their mark, adding length and colors. Some of the saddles listed here date back to those days, others are compliments of Dr. Whiting's effort to preserve the lines in their original colors and form, kind of a snapshot into hackle history.
